Spanish Music, Fine Motor and Puppets
Tuesdays, 4 - 4:30 p.m. (Ages 0-7)
Rolling admissions
Note: To help your child get the most out of the class,
please have an adult present or nearby to monitor tech issues and model participation.
Contextualizing new vocabulary with a wide range of highly engaging, age-appropriate songs, finger plays, and movement, we work thematically through word groups (i.e. the body, African animals, farm animals, pets, weather), simultaneously emphasizing colors, counting, etc., with the intention of building a broad Spanish vocabulary base.
This class uses humor, visual aids, and a theatrical approach to language transmission. Music is a constant presence in the class and as we intentionally repeat lyrics and melodies, children as young as 18 months begin to sing along.

Brain Child
Intermediate Spanish and Creative Confidence
Tuesdays, 3:15-3:45 p.m. (7 - 12 years)
Rolling admissions
Braille, earmuffs, popsicles, and trampolines - all invented by children - this class looks at the real, important, and tangible contributions of child inventors, artists, composers and innovators throughout history. While we may also take a look at innovation made with children in mind, the class will heavily emphasize child-driven innovations in all areas of life.
Language Acquisition
Conducted primarily in Spanish with ample opportunities for review and repetition, children will acquire useful Spanish vocabulary. In addition to natural acquisition opportunities (learning by hearing and doing), we will use repetitive hand movement techniques, muscle memory (kinesthetic learning) and will also begin to consciously build sentences using topic-relevant, regular -ar verb conjugations, learn word order, and gender concordance.

Submerged
Advanced Spanish, Strategy and Enterprise
Tuesdays, 4:45-5:35 p.m. (10 - 15 years)
Class began on September 8, 2020
With strategy, collaboration, and hard work a team of scuba divers (Buceadores) will attempt to establish an underwater vacation resort on a planet in a distant galaxy. Working alone, in pairs, or in teams, the entrepreneurial Buceadores will earn conchas (shells) to make tactical purchases, hold auctions, trade goods, and collect inventory to build a cohesive business plan and pitch a proposal to the Empresario in charge of the project. The unpredictability of the Empresario will not be the only unknown variable: we aren't quite sure what lurks in the waters of the Sumergido project. There will be surprises.
Conducted entirely in Spanish, this advanced Spanish simulation game builds practical, everyday vocabulary, speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills. The game also has an optional (but highly encouraged) grammar competency component.

Cosmic Conversation
Intermediate Spanish, Space and Democracy
Thursdays, 4:45-5:35 p.m. (8 - 13 years)
Rolling admissions
In the distant cosmos, scientists have recently discovered el Planeta Azueluz. Rich with resources, frozen rivers and ice caps,
Azueluz has the potential to host human life.
Cosmic Conversation participants will be members of la Sociedad Secreta de Azueluz (The Secret Society of Azueluz). These leaders and explorers will be asked to define and determine the blueprint for sustainable life on Azueluz.
Spanish and Democratic Decision-Making
In this Spanish space simulation class the group will make weekly democratic decisions to
build the plan and vision for a new Space colony. Each week we will review and vote on two potential (real or imaginary) solutions to the practical challenges of daily living in the cosmos; Sustainable housing, food growth and preparation, waste management, government, health, leisure, art, beauty, etc. The children will need to submit a written vote for the element they would like to add to our blueprint: "El Gran Plan: El Libro de La Vida en el Mundo Nuevo (The Great Plan: The Book of Life in the New World.)"
This class builds listening and reading comprehension, useful daily vocabulary, familiarity with the the ordinal numbers, and introduction to the future and conditional grammar tenses necessary for helping us discuss possibilities and potential.
