Thought Partnership with Janel
"When I think of Janel’s superpowers, I think of both her EQ and IQ, as she brings her tremendous intelligence to managing her relationships with parents, particularly around sensitive topics. Janel brings to her work a deep sense of accountability and integrity, and day in and day out, she maintains a contagious enthusiasm. Her positivity, mission-orientation, and creativity, when paired with her high standards for student personal responsibility and maturity, make Janel the best partner to parents in raising children I've ever known!"

Having worked for over two decades with thousands of young people in youth education, mentorship and advocacy, I have spent tens of thousands of hours observing and teaching children, coaching and counseling families in a wide range of settings and situations. My work spans the developmental spectrum; I frequently teach children and young adults from 1-25 years of age, and support the same students and their families for over a decade.
My work with children has taken me to Ecuador, Chile, Michigan, Minnesota, and the Bay Area, where I have taught and designed curricula in both private and public schools and worked with children and youth in both affluent and under-resourced communities. I currently teach students in four states.
Over the years, many parents have requested a thought partnership service—a dedicated time and private space to reflect together on the well-being, development, learning and educational trajectory of their child.
A scheduled, 1:1 thought partnership meeting between us may address topics such as:
- Optimal school placement and learning environments;
- Learning preferences, strengths, and challenges;
- Academic and behavioral concerns;
- Language acquisition;
- Early literacy education;
- Family–school communication;
- Support assessments, resources and strategies; and,
- Nanny and childcare considerations.
If a thought partnership meeting could be helpful, please contact me using the form below.
Please note: I teach >40 sessions per week; thought partnership spots are very, very limited.
