Spanish, History, and Imagination

Brief Description: What will our daily lives look like in 2055? How will innovation and cultural evolution change our schools, ecosystems and natural habitats, architecture, modes of transportation, cities, food, fashion sense, and technology?

As we move thematically through quotidian elements of everyday life, we will study the history of modernity, look at how things "used to be" and make projections about how things will change 40 years from now, answering the questions, "Who will we be?"; "How will we live?" and "What world should we build together?"

Spanish Language Acquisition
This class provides a highly-engaging, novel framework through which the children will establish a broad base of Spanish vocabulary; the words necessary for everyday conversations. The class subject matter naturally facilitates work on future (and past) tense grammar constructions.

Spanish Writing
The children will make regular Spanish entries in a composition book, a written "time capsule" of their imaginings, predictions, and projections about life in 2055. This book may become a keepsake - something to save and reopen in 40 years - when, as adults, they will actually live the year of their predictions.
