SPANISH IMMERSION
CAREGIVER & ME
"Janel is a warm, intelligent, and creative instructor. My son looks forward to every time we get to see her.
She's an amazing person and we feel incredibly fortunate to have found her. I highly recommend her classes."
- Jennifer, Palo Alto
SPANISH IMMERSION CAREGIVER & ME DESCRIPTION
Contextualizing new vocabulary with a wide range of highly engaging, age-appropriate songs, finger plays, and movement, we work thematically through word groups (i.e. the body, African animals, farm animals, pets, weather), simultaneously emphasizing colors, counting, etc. with the intention of building a broad Spanish vocabulary base. Using humor, visual aids, and theater, caretakers and children learn together in a warm, relaxed environment.
Music is a constant presence in the class and as we intentionally repeat lyrics and melodies, children as young as 18 months begin to sing along.
PLAY IN SPANISH
During each class we set aside time for free play. In this segment of the class children move freely between a variety of play
stations at which point I take the opportunity to interact one-on-one with each child entirely in Spanish. Using their play as a context and focal point for natural language transmission, I engage each of the children (and they engage me) with developmentally relevant toys and activities.
