Spanish Music, Fine Motor and Puppets
Tuesdays, 9:30 (Ages 0-6)
Class begins on June 9, 2020
Note: To help your child get the most out of the class,
please have an adult present or nearby to monitor tech issues and model participation.
Contextualizing new vocabulary with a wide range of highly engaging, age-appropriate songs, finger plays, and movement, we work thematically through word groups (i.e. the body, African animals, farm animals, pets, weather), simultaneously emphasizing colors, counting, etc. with the intention of building a broad Spanish vocabulary base.
This class uses humor, visual aids, and a theatrical approach to language transmission. Music is a constant presence in the class and as we intentionally repeat lyrics and melodies, children as young as 18 months begin to sing along.

Controversial Conversations
Advanced Spanish and Diplomatic Debate
Tuesdays, 4:40-5:30 p.m. (9 - 13 years)
Class begins on June 9, 2020
We will work in teams to devise Spanish arguments in favor of or in opposition to child- and youth-relevant controversies ranging from serious to light-hearted. Should circuses and zoos be abolished or allowed? Should vegetarianism be state mandated? Should violent videogames be banned? Should teachers be replaced by computers? Do dogs or cats make better pets?
By arguing for or against positions that may not be their own, students will learn to listen respectfully to opposing view points and work on empathy and perspective taking. I will place a heavy emphasis on kindness, humor, and respectful listening.

Animal Adventure
Spanish reading, writing and listening practice
Thursdays, 2:50-3:20 p.m. (7 -11 years)
Class begins on June 11, 2020
Using photography and sound, we will take a look at a wide range of animals building relevant vocabulary, and helpful and useful phrases. The children will also have a chance to improve their reading proficiency, taking turns reading aloud to the group. We will build in opportunities to practice writing simple phrases and, in doing so, study the sound system.
Each enrolled child may be able to help determine the animals on which we will focus.
