The final installment of the opposite song, please sing along with me at home! Slam helps me narrate a slide show with hairy and bald photos...and gets a little sidetracked in the middle when he sees a hairy phone. (For some reason the written words "Peludo o Calvo" are visibly jumbled at the beginning after several uploads but the video is otherwise functioning perfectly - apologies for the visual glitch.) I build a crazy, hairy man with green hair and he suddenly disappears from my board. Mama Búho tries to predict whether each pair of hands holds something or doesn't hold anything (nada = nothing). Slam has to tell me whether each mini t-shirt has "something" or whether it does not have anything. Play along at home. Play this opposites game with me...I say a word and you say its opposite and then Camello comes into the frame to play with me. Camello draws "algo" (something) for the children...

Slam and I talk our way through this slideshow and, as usual, Slam is afraid of some of the normal, everyday things he sees (but your children likely wont be) I ask Camello to follow directions and draw arriba or abajo on the board...of course, he finds a way to make it all a little more complicated than it needs to be. In this video, Lobito is trying to catch an "escarabajo" (beetle) and that is either "arriba" or "abajo" In this video, Slam claims that he sees light blue birds flying around my head?! How can this possibly be true? I am ready to read Slam a bedtime story but he is nowhere to be found. Can your children find him? Get a piece of paper and a marker or drawing utensil for this video to create a simple alto/bajo drawing. It doesn't need to be a house, of course, I used this only as a conceptually simple example, there are many more ways to play with this. Slam plays a game with me and gets comfortable being wrong and making mistakes. Adding a verse to the opposite song...can you now sing the first verses easily? A hand movement song to employ muscle memory in learning opposites I ask Slam to play an opposite game with me and he refuses...so I need to change the set-up a little to make it more engaging Slam helps me read through a hot and cold slide show Grab a piece of string or a shoelace and practice opposites with me I trust Camello with my computer to draw something "frío" and he has a hard time wrapping it up... Slam y Camello play a few felt board opposite games with me to practice the week's target vocabulary5/12/2020 Sing along with this song to learn pairs of useful opposites (prepositions and adjective). This week we practice Verse #1 and move on quickly to learn Verse #2 Slam presents the two opposite pairs of the week and we find out if his trashcan is empty or full: Lleno (full) y vacío (empty) Caliente (hot) y frío (cold) (Even if an initial photo does not load you should be able to press the triangle to play) Play along at home to guess whether these felt "sobres" (envelopes) are "lleno" (full) or "vacío" (empty.) (Even if a placeholder photo does not load you should be able to press the triangle to play) Slam helps me teach largo y corto with the thing I am most afraid of: CULEBRAS (snakes) Now Slam helps me teach culebra flaca y una culebra gorda...what did the snake eat to make it look so "gorda." Each week I will work on a couple of opposite pairs, here is the introductory video for the week: This is, ultimately, a long (but hopefully very helpful for memory and vocabulary acquisition) opposite song so I will be breaking it into parts to share with you, adding a new section to the old, until we are ready to sing the entire thing together. The chorus remains the same: I like opposites, they are a part of me, I like opposites, let's sing like this: Here is the first installment... Slam looks for something long and something short in a demonstration that goes awry. Camello and I discuss thin and fat ice cream cones |
